Woodworks serving boards from Skottsberg come in a variety of designs and sizes. A drinks board, serving board or tapas board. Various names are used, but they all boil down to the same thing. This Woodworks serving board is made of durable Longan wood. Longan is a fruit tree that, when it no longer produces fruit, normally serves only as firewood. Instead, we turn it into beautiful serving boards. These are sawn in one piece, not glued and therefore very strong. The boards can be used on 2 sides and have 2 hygienic milled-in handles. The sawmill has already coated the board with 2 coats of Tung oil. This drying, protective oil is completely foodsafe and makes the planks water repellent. Skottsberg Tung oil is also available separately so you can properly maintain the plank for a lifetime of enjoyment.

Maintaining and cleaning your Woodworks serving board
Our Skottsberg Woodworks wood planks are already treated with 2 coats of (diluted) Tung oil at the sawmill. This Tung oil is deeply soaked into the wood, so you can use the planks immediately.

Skottsberg Tung oil is a durable 100% pure natural oil. Tung oil, or "Chinese wood oil," is made from the seeds of the Tung tree and has been used in Asia for more than 2,000 years for finishing wooden vessels, among other things, because the oil makes the wood water repellent. Today, it is used for wooden countertops, flooring, furniture, and for our Skottsberg wooden serving and cutting boards, among other things.

Tung oil is a drying oil that soaks into the wood. It keeps the wood from discoloring, is food safe and water repellent after drying, making Tung oil simply the best natural finish for wood available. It livens up your wood and gives a very nice matte to silk gloss finish.

Would you like to give your serving board an extra protective coating after frequent use? That's possible. Lightly sand the surface, make it completely dust-free and rub the Tung oil onto the board with a lint-free cloth. Remove excess oil after about 15 minutes and repeat again after an hour. The board will need a few hours to up to a day to dry completely. Tung oil is best stored in a dark place and always close the bottle tightly. This is because oxygen will cause the oil to dry out.
