Help: what do we eat for Easter?

Sometimes annual celebrations like Easter still give you the most headaches. Because what do you put on the table during Easter this time? Every time the same formula is a bit boring. Fortunately, you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Sink back in your chair, grab a drink and let yourself be inspired about subjects such as whether or not to have Easter eggs, about tasty, attractive dishes that are just that little bit different and about the decoration of the Easter table.

Easter eggs: garish or just very stylish

Whoever says Easter, says Easter eggs. And whether you are a fan of eggs or not: the cheerfully striped, colorfully dotted and plain, brightly colored eggs do provide the ultimate Easter atmosphere. But it can also be more stylish. Is colorful not your thing? Then limit yourself to white, brown and pastel. Or put white scaled eggs in a basket with some gray and black painted ones. Add some feathers and your tasty stylish still life is ready.

Easter breakfast and Easter brunch 2.0

This Easter, surprise your family and friends with an Easter breakfast or Easter brunch 2.0. Leave out the usual things like sugar loaf, Easter toast and brioche. How about a mini quiche that you make in no time in your muffin tin? Place a round of puff pastry in each muffin tin to create a puff pastry tray, put in a filling to your liking, pop it in the oven for 20 minutes and enjoy. For those who love puff pastry: you can also make "carrots" out of puff pastry or croissant dough. To do this, cut the dough into strips. Form a rectangle from aluminum foil and wrap the strips around it. Cook the dough in the oven until nicely browned. Fill the puff pastry carrot with a fresh egg salad, for example. Some green sprigs inside and your "carrots" are ready.

While we're on the green tour: there are lots of delicious things to do with fruit, too. For example, halve kiwi's and carefully hollow them out. Then fill the kiwi's with a mix of kiwi and other fruit and present the half kiwi in an egg cup. Add a toothpick and your fruit cocktail is complete. Serving shot glasses or ice cream sundaes with Easter pyramisu also works well on the table. There are plenty of recipes online, but if you like to do a little figuring yourself out in the kitchen, you can also adapt your own tiramisu recipe to something "pasig". For example, add something yellow, like eggnog, or top the tiramisu with halved chocolate Easter eggs. The great thing about these dishes is that you can make most of them ahead of time. That saves you a lot of stress on the day itself.

Easter table dressing in a snap

Don't feel like spending hours in the kitchen? No problem. Get delicious food and drinks from the supermarket, greengrocer and butcher or order it from your favorite restaurant around the corner. All you have to do is dress up the table. When it comes to decorating, it's really all about one thing: spring. After all, Easter heralds new beginnings. You also want the table to look inviting. That feeling is created when you go the extra mile with the decoration:

  • Use plates, glasses and bowls in fresh colors and soft tones.
  • Get creative with these 3 fun table DIYs for Easter.
  • Bring the outside in by placing Easter branches or small vases of flowers here and there on the table. For example, hollow out a white egg and put some spring flowers in it, such as crocus, Spring Snowbell or spearweed.
  • Place a matching napkin with each plate. Green and yellow always do well at Easter, but so do pastel colors, of course. If you have time to spare, fold the napkins into a fun shape.
  • And speaking of pastels, if you do need a new dinnerware set, the new collection from Mammoet comes highly recommended. Mammoet is releasing a series of dinner plates and breakfast plates in powder pink, sea green and soft blue this spring. With this tableware, your Easter table is ready in one go.
  • Have plenty of glasses on the table so your guests can alternate a glass of juice with a bubbly without hindrance.
  • Avoid the daily sprinkle pack, jam jar and butter tub and put it in a nice bowl for a change. Add a long spoon and a nice butter knife and even the ordinary breakfast elements are suddenly very chic. Small dishes are arranged festively on a cake plate.
  • A little more coziness on the table? Place some candles in wooden candlesticks and light them for even more atmosphere.
  • Finish your Easter breakfast or Easter brunch with a nice cup of coffee, tea or cappuccino.

I'll give it 24 hours and then no doubt the first messages will come in asking if it can please be with you again next year. Happy easter, y'all!
