How to: festive dining

I confess: I am a sucker for seasons. As soon as one season turns into another, I adapt like a leaf to the tree. And now that temperatures are dropping and it's already getting dark in the afternoon, it's time for home. Snuggling up with your family or friends, eating and drinking while the wind howls around the house. So pull out the prettiest tablecloth: we're going to throw a festive dinner party for our friends.

Festive dining: where to start?

When it comes to socializing with your friends: it's all about the company, of course. And in a close second place is the quality of the food and drink. Yet a beautifully set table also contributes to a successful evening. It sets the tone and beautifully presented food on a festive plate really does taste better.

Picture this: stylish, matte black plates, dishes and bowls, such as those in the series Universe from Maastricht Porselein. On all that black, the colors of your Norwegian shrimp, red tomato soup and green salad will come out beautifully. The same goes for the Bama Copper-service from Palmer. The Portuguese artisans who designed this series clearly knew what they were doing. Put this understated copper-colored service on the table and you immediately imagine yourself in a cozy and intimate quality restaurant. Another tip: try presenting a dish on a wooden serving board. Ideal for smaller appetizers, carrot parcels from the oven or sliced tenderloin.

Table covers: cutlery set

Elegant cutlery belongs to a fancy dinner party, of course. But you also want it to feel comfortable in your hand. They understood that well in Italy. So the Italian brand EME had several cutlery sets designed for and by food lovers. Cutlery set Mona Lisa combines a tasteful black handle with an ornate metal decoration and each item is pleasantly heavy in the hand. Going for a real party experience? Then let yourself be seduced by the EME Domus cutlery set. Extremely festive because shiny yet stylish.

Table covers: glasses

Another Italian who understands what cozy dining is all about is . Luigi Bormioli. For starters, Bormioli offers champagne coupes and champagne flutes - elegant and sturdy - to start the evening off sparkling. Even the wine glasses with slender stems can take a beating thanks to the addition of titanium. This makes for a more relaxed toast. And thanks to the sparkling, light crystal glass, the wine tinkles colorfully towards you.

Ready?

Then all you have to do is figure out which friends to invite and dive into a good cookbook. Or try my favorite dish with nuts. Good luck!
