Go vegan!

Vegan food is hot. Even if you are a devastated carnivore and have said goodbye to all those summer barbecues with pain in your heart, cooking with exclusively plant-based ingredients every now and then is not so crazy. After all, eating vegan is incredibly healthy for you. In addition, there is the growing awareness that we need to take better care of the earth. All this has ensured that the plant-based meal has also shaken off the last remnants of its woolly image. Moreover, with thousands of online blogs, TikTok videos and Insta-reels, a vegan lifestyle is more accessible than ever. Want to know more about vegan food? I've got you covered!

World Veganism Day

Every year, on Nov. 1, it is World Veganism Day. On this day, worldwide attention is paid to the benefits of veganism for people, animals and nature. Should Easter and Pentecost fall on the same day before you give up your fried egg for breakfast? You don't know what you're missing. Go crazy and surprise yourself and your sweetheart with overnight oats. The web is full of recipes for these breakfasts that you already prepare in the evening and that turn into the most amazing breakfast dishes overnight. Store your freshly prepared oatmeal in the refrigerator in glass jars that you can seal with a lid, like these weck jars. Even if you're not a fan of oatmeal, these oats are worth trying. If you prefer to whip up your own vegan meal, be sure to substitute these ingredients: meat, poultry, fish and sea creatures, dairy, eggs and bee products such as honey.

Did your vegan meal turn out well? Lucky you. Because once you've discovered bloggers with their vegan recipes, a world opens up for you.

A color explosion on your plate

Of course, there is nothing wrong with cauliflower, boiled potatoes and a piece of vegetarian chicken. But the true tastemakers among us know that a colorful meal stimulates all your senses. That's right up the vegan's alley, because there are few foods as colorful as vegetables. Pumpkin and carrots, eggplant and red cabbage, brown beans, yellow peppers and green leeks. A rainbow is nothing like it. Tip: If you really want to show off, garnish your meal with edible flowers. You can buy these at some supermarkets, greengrocers or delis. Finally, serve your meal on a plate in a warm autumn hue and you can plan another dinner party right away. Your friends will come back for this!

Mushrooms & jackfruit

Now that autumn is here, of course we can't ignore mushrooms. Mushrooms are an ideal substitute for meat in terms of texture. Stews with chestnuts, boeuf bourgignon, pies, risotto or quiche. You can do anything with mushrooms. Leave the ordinary mushroom aside and opt for ceps, chanterelles, morels, oyster mushrooms, chestnut mushrooms or the horn of plenty. What's in a name!

Looking for an ingredient with that signature meat texture, but don't like mushrooms? Incorporate jackfruit into your meal. Pulled jackfruit is perfect for in your poké bowl, stew or wrap. Chances are no one will notice the difference.

Autumn vegetables on your plate

Kale, red cabbage and white cabbage ... the season of cabbages is upon us again. Now you can make them into stews, entirely according to grandma's recipe. But of course you can also do something completely different with them. Call it fusion cuisine and incorporate them into a wrap, for example. Cut some cabbages and vegetables into thin strips (for example, red cabbage, white cabbage and some carrots), mix them with dressing and fold the whole thing into a warm wrap. A moment between the grill and you have a vegan autumn dish to lick your fingers at. Another tip? Make a savory puree of pumpkin and coconut milk and serve with it a vegan rendang of jackfruit or stewed eggplant with spring onion.

Surprising. Delectable. Vegan.
