The Candy Cane Caprese: a Christmas classic with a new twist

Christmas is the time when even the simplest ingredients can become something magical. Ingredients

  • 2 balls of mozzarella
  • 3 to 4 ripe tomatoes
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Pesto of your choice 
  • Small toast or crispy bread crackers

  • Salt

  • Serving dish or wooden board
  • Small bowl for pesto

Preparation

  • Cut the mozzarella into nice, even slices.
  • Cut the tomatoes into thin slices.
  • Arrange the mozzarella and tomato alternately in the shape of a candy cane on a large serving platter.
  • Drizzle with a little olive oil, pepper, and salt. 
  • Finish with fresh basil leaves.
